PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Firefighters battled a brush fire in Prince George County on Wednesday, preventing it from spreading to any nearby homes.

At about 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, crews with Prince George County Fire and EMS were called to the 2700 block of Irwin Road for report of a brush fire.

When dispatchers learned how close the brush fire was to multiple nearby homes and other buildings, the call was upgraded to a structure fire response, which allowed for more firefighters to come to the neighborhood's defense.

Crews were able to put out the flames without allowing them to spread to any nearby structures.
