PHOTOS: Hanover sergeant rescues starving kitten from street

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A sergeant with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office made a "pawsome" rescue on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Oct. 14, the sergeant was on Cedar Lane when she came upon a small, starving kitten in the middle of the roadway.
Authorities said that the sergeant immediately stopped and rescued the kitten from the street.

She then took the little one to Hanover County Animal Protection for veterinary care.
Applications for heating assistance open for Hanover residents
"She may have earned a small 'battle bite,' but we think it’s safe to say the kitten was simply expressing gratitude in its own … claw-sic way," the sheriff's office said.
