Nicholas Kasny, who competed in "Mayday Mayhem" this year, arrived with two robots and called the robot combat a "pretty good fight."

"I battled out the opponent, but the motor did kind of almost overheat. That's something I [have to] fix."

He expressed the importance of needing more engineers, and how creating robots fuels his creativity.

"These competitions are really a good way to express my engineering passion and express my creativity too," he said. "It's really fun to make something and destroy other robots with it."

"The community's great. They help you get into the sport really well as well and all-around a really great and supportive community," he added.

This event is presented by Richmond Ara Bot Instigated Destruction (RABID).
