POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Powhatan County Christmas tree grower gifted five trees and two wreaths to Gov. Glenn Youngkin and the Executive Mansion on Monday.
On Monday, Dec. 1, Youngkin received two 12-foot, one 7-foot and two 5-foot Fraser Fir Christmas trees, as well as two wreaths, grown at Powhatan's own Olde Church Christmas Tree Farm. Ian Hamilton and his fiancée, Sarah Thompson, presented these gifts to Youngkin at the Executive Mansion.
Hamilton and Thompson were afforded this honor after Olde Church Christmas Tree Farm won the 2025 Virginia Christmas Tree Growers Association (VCTGA) competition. It's tradition that the winners of this competition provide trees and wreaths to the Executive Mansion.
"Nothing represents the holiday season more than a fresh-cut Virginia Christmas tree," Youngkin said. "A very important sector of the Commonwealth's agriculture and forestry industries, the growing and selling of Virginia Christmas Trees provides a significant boost to our state’s economy. Thank you to the VCTGA and Hamilton family for delivering these beautiful trees and wreaths to Virginia’s executive mansion.”
