PHOTOS: Water truck crashes into Prince George home, causes partial collapse

PRINC EGEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A water truck crashed into a Prince George County home on Friday, causing a partial collapse.

At about 12:32 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, crews with Prince George County Fire and EMS were called to a home in the the 6100 block of County Drive for a report of a crash with entrapment and, shortly after, a structural collapse.

When they arrived at the scene, crews found that a water truck had crashed into the front of a home.

Pictures from the scene show that the truck's front wheels and part of the cab are inside the home, all but through the front door, while the tank it's carrying has caused some roofing to buckle.

The water truck had also lost the logging tractor it was towing, Prince George fire officials said. It laid about 75 feet away, overturned onto one side.

The homeowner was inside the house at the time of the crash, but was thankfully unhurt.

The driver of the truck was examined by first responders for injuries, but they "declined transport," per Prince George fire officials.

Crews from multiple agencies worked together to get the truck out of the home and stabilize the structure.

This effort, which reportedly took almost four hours, included units from all of the Tri-Cities' fire departments and the Crater Regional Rescue Team.

"We extend our gratitude to our mutual aid partners for their prompt response and assistance," Prince George fire officials said. "We also thank the Prince George County Building Official for responding to assess the damage and provide support to the homeowner."

No additional information on how exactly this crash occurred is available as of the time of reporting. The Prince George County Police Department's investigation is ongoing.
