PHOTOS: Work underway on temporary Oak Hill Road bridge in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Community members are getting a glimpse of a new temporary bridge on Oak Hill Road in Petersburg.

Petersburg officials took to social media on Sunday, March 1, to announce that work is underway at the temporary bridge. Per the post, Petersburg's Public Works department has begun installing the bridge at the site.

Officials said the bridge will help accommodate traffic, including emergency vehicles, while the city designs a permanent bridge on Oak Hill Road.

"Looking ahead, the design process for the permanent bridge is underway," wrote officials.

The city shared on Feb. 12 that preparatory work for the temporary bridge began last month. Its reopening is slated for late March.
