Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville celebrates new children’s playground, other upgrades
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Hanover County held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday afternoon to celebrate a new series of updates at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville — including a new children's playground.
The ceremony on Friday, Oct. 24, came after the playground underwent its first major renovation in 18 years, according to a release. Hanover County took feedback from more than 1,800 residents and incorporated it into the new design.
According to Hanover County Parks and Recreation, demolition work for the previous playground started on July 15.
The new children's playground now has educational signage that helps visitors learn about the history of Pole Green Park, officials said.
