Police continue searching for answers in killing of Chesterfield teen 12 years later

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Twelve years after a 19-year-old was found dead with a gunshot wound in Chesterfield, police continue to search for answers.

Just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to the 5300 block of Pembroke Street for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found a young man in the middle of the street with a gunshot wound.

The young man was identified as 19-year-old Matthew Warren McDaniel of the 2800 block of Brampton Way. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
