Police search for suspect after 52-year-old pedestrian killed in Richmond hit-and-run
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Police Department is continuing to investigate after a 52-year-old pedestrian was killed in an early February hit-and-run.
At 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, officers received a call for a reported vehicle crash in the 2600 block of West Main Street.
When officers arrived, they found a woman, now identified as 52-year-old Ruthanne Berry of Richmond, down and unresponsive.
Berry was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were considered life-threatening. She died the following day.
Investigators determined that Berry had been walking southbound on North Robinson Street prior to the crash. She was then hit by a dark-colored sedan as she attempted to cross West Main Street.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle did not stop and continued driving westbound on West Main Street.
"Investigators have determined the vehicle left a parking lot, located at 1911 West Main Street, at 10:46 p.m., four minutes before the vehicle struck Berry," a release from the Richmond Police Department reads.
