Populations in Virginia’s ICE detention centers have increased since 2024, according to TRAC Immigration

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The populations in Virginia's U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centers have increased since 2024, according to TRAC Immigration.

According to data collected by TRAC Immigration, as of Feb. 8, the Caroline Detention Facility had an average daily population of 268, reflecting an increase since 2024.

Around the same time last year, the detention center reportedly had an average daily population of 250.

The Farmville Detention Center in Prince Edward County reportedly had an average daily population of 446 as of Feb. 8, which is an increase since last year.

The Farmville facility had an average daily population of 184 around the same time in 2024, according to TRAC Immigration.

8News has reached out to ICE by email and by phone for weeks to learn how many arrests of immigrants have been made in Virginia since the start of the year. We have not received a response.
