Possible abduction in Chesterfield County prompts police investigation

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A suspicious incident "that appears to be an abduction" is being investigated by the Chesterfield County Police Department.

At 10:35 p.m. on Monday, July 28, Chesterfield Police officers responded to Reams Road Elementary School at 10141 Reams Road for a possible abduction.

Police said staff working at the school reported seeing a dark gray Toyota Camry driving in the parking lot. As the sedan drove through, staff said two males approached on foot.

As the sedan stopped, police said there was a verbal argument between the males and people inside the vehicle. A female then got out of the vehicle and ran a short distance before stopping.

The two males then got into the vehicle, which drove to where the female was standing. The vehicle then left with the female, heading east on Reams Road.

The Toyota is described as being a 2002-2006 model year, with surveillance photos below released by police.

The female involved is described by police as being white and between 16 and 20 years old. She reportedly had long hair and was wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts.

Based on surveillance video of the interaction, police said it appears the teenage boys or young men and the teenage girl or young women knew each other.

Police continue to investigate the incident. Any residents in the area with surveillance cameras are asked to check them for images of the suspect vehicle. Anyone with information should contact police at 804-748-1251.
