This appointment comes after the previous county administrator, Bret Schardein, accepted a position in Hanover County after spending just under a decade serving Powhatan.
Hagy will officially assume his new role on June 1. Schardein will work to support Powhatan's administration for some time afterwards to ensure a smooth transition.
“Powhatan County is a special place and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role," Hagy said in the release. "I appreciate the trust that the Board of Supervisors has placed in me and the support of our talented County team. I will work hard every day to honor that trust and support. I am excited for the work we have ahead.”
