Pride & Pour to celebrate Richmond’s LGBTQ+ history
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — An event celebrating the LGBTQ+ community is set to take place in Richmond early next month.
Pride & Pour: Richmond's Queer History will celebrate LGBTQ+ stories and the community's past through storytelling, scholarship and community, said event organizer Black Heath Meadery.
The celebration will take place on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the meadery, located at 1313 Altamont Ave.
Guest speaker Jay Watkins, professor at the College of William & Mary and author of the book "Queer Virginia," will discuss the role of the historic Triangle Theater in local queer theatre, organizers said. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in two raffles at the event — one for a copy of the book and another for a $20 gift card.

Black Heath Meadery will offer colorful meads with edible glitter for guests, including a newly released Limoncello mead. Free pride-themed pins and temporary tattoos will also be up for grabs.
"We love creating space for stories that bring people together," said owner Bill Cavender. "Richmond has such a vibrant queer history, and this event is a chance to honor the courage, resilience, and culture while celebrating community over a glass of the world's oldest libation."
Pride & Pour is free and open to the public.
