Republicans, Democrats make final push to win over voters in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- With Election Day just five days away, Republicans and Democrats are making their closing arguments to voters in Virginia. Democratic Party of Virginia Chairwoman Susan Swecker said that, in the final days of the election, Democrats want to remind Virginia voters what's at stake. “We are taking nothing for granted,” said Swecker. On the GOP side, Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Rich Anderson is confident about former president Donald Trump's chances in Virginia. “It’s competitive,” said Anderson. “Virginia is in play.” Despite their considerable differences, both parties' final messages do include one similarity -- they’re both urging people to cast their ballot early through Saturday. “What if you have a flat tire on the way to get to the polls,” said Swecker about why it's important to vote early. “What if you have an emergency? What if something comes up?” “You can take it to the bank," said Anderson about early voting. "It is safe, secure, and transparent." Voters can find their polling place on the Department of Elections website.
