Ribbon cutting planned for new Career Skills Lab for visually impaired
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held in June for a new Career Skills Lab with the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI).
The new lab, the first of its kind in Virginia, was made possible by a partnership between DBVI, CVS Health and Aetna Better Health of Virginia. It will offer help to people that are blind, vision impaired or deafblind to get nationally recognized certification training in customer service.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at DBVI Azalea Campus located at 389 Azalea Avenue on Wednesday, June 4 starting at 10 a.m.
The new CVS Career Skills Lab will offer individuals from across Virginia the opportunity to participate in accessible training, with graduates of the program having the chance to enter a paid internship.
State and community leaders, as well as program partners, will be in attendance for the launch of the lab, which aims to not only expand job training access for people with disabilities, but encourage workforce development.
