Richmond Animal League announces free youth volunteer program this summer
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond Animal League (RAL) is offering a free, youth-focused volunteer program this summer to help animals without a home in the Richmond area.
The shelter has announced that they recently launched The Dog (and Cat) Days of Summer -- a program for kids from ages 6 to 14, as well as their families, to help support cats and dogs in need across the region.
The program, which will run from now until Aug. 31, features hands-on and self-paced activities including reading to pets, making toys and treats, organizing donation drives and running lemonade stands.
Kids will also be provided a packet they can download that has ideas, recipes and a progress tracker -- alongside a reward they earn at the end to recognize their hard work.
With this program, RAL aims to encourage young animal lovers to make a difference in their community.
