Richmond-area youth football program to host championship tournament in Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from a special guest on Friday to talk about Excel to Excellence (E2E), a youth football program that is hosting its championship tournament in Henrico County this weekend.
8News anchors Autumn Childress and Madison Moore were joined by Anthony Ricks, commissioner of E2E, to talk about the organization's mission and how people can help.
"We're getting our youth active," Ricks said. "[We're] getting them doing things that [keep] them active and out of the streets."
E2E is a nonprofit organization that was started by Ricks' little brother. It aims to serve communities across the Greater Richmond region by helping local youth develop life skills through football.
The E2E 2025 Spring National Invitational Championship Games are being held this Saturday, June 27, at Highland Springs High School. Ricks encouraged people to attend.
He also spoke about other ways to support the organization.
"Well, I'll be honest -- money is the first thing, right? But we're not that type of organization," Ricks said. "We need peoples' time, we need volunteers, we need to come out and support the tournament ... cause it all goes back into the community."
