Richmond City Public Schools accepting donations for students facing housing instability
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond City Public Schools' (RPS) Center for Families in Transition (C-FIT) team is looking for donations of new items to support students facing housing instability.
According to RPS Direct, a weekly email from the school system on Monday, Dec. 1, the school division's C-FIT team supports 580 students whose families are facing housing instability or are at risk of losing housing.
With cold weather and the holiday season coming up, the team is collecting the following new items for families:
- Soap (The C-FIT office typically stocks Dove and Dial due to skin sensitivities)
- Deodorant
- Body Wash
- Lotion
- Toothpaste (For both kids and adults)
- Towels
- Washcloths
- New and unopened undergarments for children and adults
- New books for students of all ages
- Small stocking stuffer items for children
RPS said donations can be dropped off by appointment from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, and from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10. To confirm a time to drop off items, email cfit@rvaschools.net.
