Richmond City Treasurer’s Office hosts 5th Annual Financial Literacy Fair

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond City Treasurer's Office of Financial Empowerment and the Office of Community Wealth Building are collaborating to present the 5th Annual Financial Literacy Fair on Wednesday, April 23.

The 5th Annual Financial Literacy Fair will take place from 11 a.m. 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, in the lobby of City Hall, located at 900 E. Broad Street.

According to the City of Richmond, the Financial Literacy Fair is an event designed to help Richmond residents with resources to improve their financial security.

The event will be hosted by Miss Community Clovia Lawrence, with guests including Councilmember Ellen Robertson of the 6th District, Shunda Giles, interim deputy chief administrative officer of Human Services, Caprichia S. Spellman, director of the Office of Community Wealth Building and Nichole R. Armstead, financial empowerment ambassador and Richmond City treasurer.

"Finances are a constant challenge throughout the nation, and that includes in our beloved City of Richmond," Armstead said. "We are excited to use this platform to equip both our residents and employees with tools to navigate financial obstacles and identify strategies to break through financial barriers."

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to engage with vendors and attend workshops that offer financial resources and information.

The following 30-minute workshop segments will be covered at this year's Financial Literacy Fair:

  • Simple Keys to Rebuilding Credit
  • Estate Planning & Building Wealth
  • How to Grow a Business
