Richmond FBI opens applications for Teen Academy
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has opened applications for its Teen Academy held in the summer.
According to officials, the program is open to all current high schoolers in FBI Richmond's territories and allows students to better understand work done by the agency.
The FBI Richmond Teen Academy class will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both July 15 and July 16 at FBI Richmond, located at 1970 East Parham Rd.
Typically, each course iteration will be a minimum of eight hours but can be a week long with instruction periods and demonstrations at a local field office.
The FBI said students receive presentations on topics including terrorism, public corruption, cyber crime, evidence response, polygraph exams, SWAT and day-to-day operations of a typical FBI office.
Students also learn from intelligence analysts, special agents, language specialists and professional staff about investigative tactics, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and assisting with cases.
Applications and supporting essays are due by 5 p.m. on April 11 via mail or email for panel review. To apply, visit the FBI's website.
