Richmond Fire Department announces passing of colleague Roger Myers

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- On Tuesday, Dec. 23, the Richmond Fire Department announced the passing of one of its own.

In a Facebook post, the department announced that Roger Myers, a firefighter with the Richmond Fire Department, had passed away.

"It is with heavy hearts that the Richmond Fire Department announces the passing of Firefighter Roger Myers," the post said. "We mourn the loss of a dedicated firefighter whose service, commitment, and impact will not be forgotten."

The Richmond Fire Department said this is a deep loss and sent its condolences to Myers' loved ones.

"This loss is felt deeply across our department, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to Firefighter Myers’ family, loved ones, and fellow firefighters during this difficult time," the department said.

According to officials with the department, funeral arrangements are being made and when details are available, they will be shared.

"We ask the community to keep Firefighter Myers’ family and loved ones in their thoughts during this difficult time," the department said.
