Richmond launches three-week ‘Pothole Blitz’
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - If your morning commute has felt a little bumpier lately, you’re not alone. Potholes have been popping up across Richmond after weeks of winter weather and road cleanup, frustrating drivers and damaging cars.
City leaders have launched a three-week 'Pothole Blitz' aimed at repairing road hazards across Richmond.
The initiative kicked off Wednesday with Richmond Mayor Danny Avula, Chief Administrative Officer Odie Donald II and the city’s departments of Public Works and Transportation.
Over the next several weeks, drivers can expect to see more repair crews on roadways.
According to the city's website, the blitz has been used in previous years and crews have filled hundreds of potholes during the effort. According to the city, about 22,000 potholes are repaired across Richmond each year.
Residents can also help crews identify problem spots. Potholes can be reported through the city’s RVA 311 system by visiting the RVA 311 website or calling RVA 311.
