Richmond man dies after being found with stab wound inside home after reported assault

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 45-year-old man died after police said he was found with a stab wound inside a Richmond home following a reported assault Tuesday evening.

At 11:47 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to the 00 block of North Thompson Street, near Floyd Avenue, for the report of an assault.

When officers arrived, they found 45-year-old Joseph Hunt, of Richmond, inside a home with a stab wound.

Hunt was reportedly taken to a local hospital, where he died due to his injuries.

Police said the investigation indicates the assault followed "an interaction" between Hunt and another man.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
