City of Richmond Mayor Danny Avula, along with Richmond and Henrico Health Districts, announced award recipients of the Richmond Health Equity Fund at a press conference on Tuesday, March 18 at ChildSavers in Richmond.
We Off the Couch founder Anthony Clary received more than $62,000 for his nonprofit, which aims at building community through running.
“It's like having a thought and having a dream and somebody saying, ‘Here, I believe in your dream and go do it,” Clary said.
Clary said the money will help him continue the work he’s done for so many years.
“It means being able to provide the shoes, the running gear, being able to pay for expensive raises for folks who otherwise won't be able to afford them is the way to go, and it helps our community to grow,” Clary said.
HEF is now accepting applications for its 2025 funding cycle. The application period will remain open until March 30.
Organizations interested in applying for an HEF investment can submit applications online via the REDCap survey platform or by visiting the Richmond and Henrico Public Health Foundation's website.
