Richmond nonprofit hosts short film screening to raise funds for Fonticello Food Forest project

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond nonprofit Evolving Ecologies will host a screening of short environmental films at Afterglow Coffee on Friday while raising funds for a project at Fonticello Food Forest.

Doors at the coffee shop will open for the event at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 14, with the screening spanning from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

According to Evolving Ecologies, films highlight the interconnectedness of humans and our ecosystems, with one of which being made in Richmond.

In addition to the screening, attendees can find free resources on native plants, prescribed burning and legislation.

Drinks and food will be available for purchase from Afterglow. The nonprofit will also have shirts, stickers and buttons for sale to raise funds for its projects.

According to organizers, the event is raising funds for a "wetland" project at Fonticello Food Forest, located near Carter Jones Park in Richmond's Southside.

Advanced tickets are $10 and tickets at the door will be $12, according to Evolving Ecologies. To grab your tickets, visit the nonprofit's website.
