Richmond pauses applications for water crisis recovery fund after receiving over 2,200 applications
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond has paused applications for funds to assist with recovery following the water crisis after receiving over 2,200 applications.
According to the city, all funds are now fully committed to Richmond residents financially impacted by the water crisis.
The application process for the fund, called the "Family Crisis Fund," was paused as current applicants were verified for eligibility and applications are being reviewed.
Since Friday, Jan. 31, the city said it has received over 2,200 applications.
Nearly $650,000 will go to Richmond residents who have a demonstrated financial need following the water outage, according to the city. Qualifying residents may be eligible for up to $2,500 in funds.
The city said it anticipates that applicants will be contacted in around 10 to 15 business days. Applications will reportedly be verified and processed in the order they were received.
Folks who wish to donate to support individuals and families following the water crisis can do so at United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg's website.
