Richmond Schools hosts t-shirt design challenge to combat gun violence

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond Public Schools is hosting a t-shirt design challenge in support of stopping gun violence in the city.

Richmond Public Schools (RPS), in collaboration with the City of Richmond Department of Justice Services, welcomes all 4th and 5th graders across all RPS schools to enter the "I Choose Life -- Stop Gun Violence in RVA!" t-shirt design challenge.

According to RPS, the initiative encourages students to curate an artistic shirt design that highlights the powerful message of putting an end to gun violence in Richmond.

The deadline to submit artwork to teachers is Monday, March 31 -- however, March 31 is a holiday for RPS students and faculty, so students are recommended to enter right away.

Submitted artwork must include the student's first and last name, school and teacher.

The new shirt designs will be revealed in May 2025, which will feature the design on the front of a black t-shirt.
