Richmond Symphony presents Virginia premiere of ‘An African American Requiem’
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News was joined by two special guests Thursday morning to talk about the Richmond Symphony's upcoming Virginia premiere of "An African American Requiem."
8News anchors Autumn Childress and Madison Moore were joined by Matt Wilshire, vice president of Artistic Planning & Orchestra Operations, and Kazem Abdullah, guest conductor, to talk about what people can expect.
"We are pleased to present a monumental work that spans all kinds of music forms, and really tells a story about the African American experience in America," Abdullah said.
People can head to the Dominion Energy Center's Carpenter Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m. to see "An African American Requiem," which was composed by Richmond-area native Damien Geter.
