Over 3,000 Chesterfield homes, businesses were without electricity after power lines fell

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Over 3,000 Chesterfield County homes and businesses were without electricity Wednesday night after power lines fell on Midlothian Turnpike.

In the evening hours of Wednesday, March 25, more than 3,300 Dominion Energy customers in the area of Midlothian Turnpike were without power, according to the company's Outage Map. Power has since been restored.

A spokesperson for Chesterfield County Fire and EMS told 8News that power lines fell onto Midlothian Turnpike in the area of Boulders Parkway.

For safety reasons, Midlothian Turnpike between Ruthers and Buford roads shut down while first responders worked to clear the scene.

No additional information, such as why the lines fell, is available as of the time of reporting. 8News is working to learn more and will provide an update when possible.
