Richmond to temporarily pause street sweeping for rest of 2025
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond has announced a temporary pause in street sweeping operations for the rest of 2025.
In a Dec. 12 release from the city's Department of Public Works, officials said this is a proactive measure to aid public safety, protect city equipment and preserve operational efficiency throughout the winter season.
The ice, snow and debris caused by winter weather conditions can make sweeping not only less safe, but less effective.
Richmond residents are asked to stay updated on winter maintenance notices during the pause, which will last until Jan. 5, 2026.
Motorists should also pay attention to all posted parking restrictions regarding snow removal and emergency access.
