Richmond’s Bingo Beer Co. to launch lineup of hemp-derived drinks

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A Richmond brewery is launching a new lineup of hemp-derived beverages.

Bingo Beer Co., located on 2900 W. Broad Street, will unveil the High Score Beverage Co. -- a nod to retro arcade gaming and cannabis culture -- in a new alternative alcohol space at its taste testing event from 4:20 to 6:20 p.m. on Friday, May 23. Co-owner Jay Bayer will attend the event to share more about how the beverages are made.

High Score is unveiling two cocktail-inspired flavors: Paloma and Ginger Mule, each available in slim 12 oz cans, which are reportedly low-dose and drinkable. The Ginger Mule combines ginger and lime, while the Paloma combines grapefruit and lime.

The alcohol, which is crafted on-site in Richmond's Scott's Addition neighborhood, High Score "blends the experience of classic cocktail sipping with the low-dose buzz of cannabis," according to a release.

“We were looking for something that felt light, drinkable, and fun—something you could sip like a cocktail, but without the alcohol,” said Jay Bayer, co-owner of Bingo Beer Co. “We didn’t see many options out there that combined an easygoing brand with great flavor and real room to grow. So, we decided to make it ourselves.”

Both drinks are mixed with THC, CBD, CBG and other cannabinoids, as per a release. The cans will include branding dedicated to retro culture, such as vintage arcade icons, bold colors and designs inspired and rooted in 1990s gaming, hip-hop and do-it-yourself (DIY) culture.

The lineup is made in partnership with made in collaboration with licensed Virginia grower and producer Pure Shenandoah.
