Richmond’s Main Street Station announces 2nd annual Holiday Magic Open House

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has announced the return of its second annual Holiday Magic Open House event at Main Street Station.

The event will take place Sunday, Dec. 7, from 12 to 5 p.m. at 1500 East Main Street.

According to a release, the event will be a community celebration filled with festive activities, seasonal treats and "holiday cheer." Holiday Magic Open House first made its debut last year in 2024 and per the release, due to its success, it has returned to the train station for a second year.

The Open House will include other family-friendly interactive holiday experiences with new attractions, including the following:

  • A petting zoo
  • Face Painting
  • DPW Trash Truck and Fire Truck Showcase
  • GRTC Articulated Bus on-site experience
  • Live music by the "All City Band"

The festivities will also include a cookies and cocoa baking workshop for kids, and a cookies and mocktails workshop for adults. Both workshops are ticketed -- attendees can purchase tickets here.

Returning activities include children's art and crafts, gift wrapping service, holiday music and caroling, warm seasonal beverages provided by The Len, vendor Market in partnership with Richmond Night Market and a shopping experience with local artisans and crafters.

Guests are also invited to stay and bundle up for an outdoor screening of the "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" on the patio area from 6 to 8 p.m. Blankets are recommended.
