Richmond’s Maymont to open for sledding after winter storm

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Looking for a fun way to spend your wintry Monday? Maymont announced that it will open its entrances for sledding throughout the day.

After the winter storm hit Central Virginia, Maymont announced on social media on Monday, Jan. 26, that its Robins Nature Center and Hampton Street entrances would remain open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"It’s a great day to come sledding, if you can get here safely," Maymont said in the post.

Those hoping to make the journey to Maymont should be aware that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has urged drivers to stay off the road until mid-morning on Monday, Jan. 26.

Maymont is a 100-acre green space located at 1700 Hampton St. in Richmond.
