Search continues 9 years later for suspected killer of Chesterfield hotel clerk
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Nine years after a man was shot and killed while working as a clerk at a Chesterfield hotel, officials continue to look for his suspected killer.
In the evening on Sept. 29, 2016, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to a reported shooting at the Econo Lodge located at 2310 Indian Hill Rd.
When officers arrived, they found the clerk, Jerry Vadal Colyer, dead with an apparent gunshot wound. Police said the suspect came into the lobby of the hotel, displayed a handgun and demanded money.
Colyer complied with the suspect's demands, but police said he was shot and killed anyway.
The suspect is described as being a Black man who was wearing a red, long-sleeved hooded sweatshirt, a red brimmed hat, jeans, dark-colored shoes and a dark-colored belt. He reportedly fled the area on foot toward Woods Edge Road.
