Second Annual Richmond Oyster Week to arrive in the River City

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Second Annual Richmond Oyster Week will arrive in the River City area in early October, with participating restaurants serving Virginia oysters to benefit the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Oysters improve water quality, provide habitat to a variety of species, and protect Chesapeake Bay shorelines and marshes from erosion, sea level rise, and intense storms. Eating local Virginia oysters bolsters the state's aquaculture industry, supporting economic growth and sustainable seafood.

The Second Annual Richmond Oyster Week will be held from Wednesday, Oct. 1, through Tuesday, Oct. 7, showcasing Virginia oysters at participating restaurants, where 15% of oyster sales will be donated to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

The foundation is the largest independent conservation organization dedicated solely to saving the Bay.
