Several railroad crossings to close between Williamsburg and Richmond
NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Several railroad crossings between Williamsburg and Richmond will be closing in March and early April for improvements by CSX along the rail route.
The crossing closures will begin in Williamsburg on Tuesday, March 25, and close in Richmond on Wednesday, April 2. This is expected to impact multiple crossings along the route, with each closure expected to last between 3 to 5 days.
According to a social post from the New Kent County Sheriff's office's Facebook page, public safety officials are "coordinating response plans to ensure emergency services remain available during the closure period."
Despite detours and access limitations, contractors will be available to help those traveling.
To minimize disruptions, public safety officials say they plan to prioritize crossings by completing the maintenance within 12 hours.
