Severe thunderstorm warning issued for parts of Central Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Central Virginia.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the following localities until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 6:

  • Lunenburg County
  • Nottoway County

A severe thunderstorm warning is also in effect in the following localities until 6:30 p.m. Friday:

  • Amelia County
  • Chesterfield County
  • Cumberland County
  • Goochland County
  • Powhatan County

According to NWS, residents may witness high-speed wind gusts and quarter-sized hail. As a result, minor damage to trees, cars and homes may be possible.
