Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Richmond and several Central Virginia Counties

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Metro Richmond area and the following Counties on Sunday, July 27.

  • The City of Richmond
  • Buckingham County
  • Caroline County
  • Charles City County
  • Chesterfield County
  • Essex County
  • Goochland County
  • Hanover County
  • Henrico County
  • King and Queen County
  • Louisa County
  • New Kent County
  • The City of Petersburg
  • Powhatan County

The radar indicated warning is in effect until 6:45 p.m. this afternoon. Hazardous wind gusts of up to 60 m.ph. are possible along with damages to trees and powerlines.
