Sewage leak spills into Chesterfield creek on Millridge Parkway

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A sewage leak in a Chesterfield County creek on Monday evening prompted a HAZMAT response, according to fire officials.
Just before 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, Chesterfield Fire and EMS crews responded to a HAZMAT call in the 4900 block of Millridge Parkway.

According to fire officials, a person walking in the area reported a strong odor and saw a substance floating in a nearby creek.
Firefighters and HAZMAT team members discovered a sewage leak that had spilled into that creek.
Crews contained the flow, and as of 8:15 p.m. on Monday, fire officials said clean up efforts were underway.
