Sewer repairs on Forest Hill Avenue resume in September
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Sewer repairs at Forest Hill Avenue are resuming in the City of Richmond in early September.
According to the Department of Public Utilities (DPU), the city discussed plans to continue utility work on Forest Hill Avenue between Hathaway Road and Joe Brooks Boulevard during a virtual public meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19.
The city completed the first two phases in 2024, which included the replacement of about 1,200 LF of sewer along the road from Cherokee Road to Hathaway Road.
In September, the city will begin a sewer replacement project, replacing all the sewer lateral lines running into neighboring businesses.

Forest Hill Avenue will go down to one lane as scheduled, beginning on Sept. 2, with installation of a maintenance of a traffic plan, and work will start shortly a week after, Rhonda Johnson with DPU said during Tuesday's virtual public meeting.
Meanwhile, the waterline replacement work, scheduled to start on Monday, Aug. 25, is to be completed by February 2026.
"Thank you all for learning so much from this last experience and really letting that inform the work that you're doing for this one," said Sara Abubaker, 4th District representative. "I'm cautiously optimistic it is going to be a much smoother process than in the past."
City officials emphasized that they aim to maintain access to businesses on Forest Hill Avenue during construction.
