Six displaced after fire at Chesterfield apartments on New Year’s Eve
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Six people were displaced following an apartment fire in Chesterfield County on New Year's Eve.
At about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, crews with Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded to a call for an apartment fire in the 500 block of Whetstone Road.
The first firefighters that arrived found fire in an upstairs bedroom, but they were able to get the fire under control within 20 minutes.

According to fire officials, though there were no reported injuries, six people were displaced and are being assisted by family members.
Chesterfield Fire said the cause was an unattended candle and that firefighters were able to contain the damage to the apartment where the fire started.
