Some drug-related charges dropped for former Chesterfield police officer, wife

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Some of the drug-related charges that a former Chesterfield County police officer and his wife were facing have been dropped, according to court records.

In May, the Chesterfield County Police Department received a tip that Lewis Hagen, a 40-year-old police officer at the time, had reportedly been having illegal drugs mailed to his home.

After officials carried out a search warrant at his home, he was arrested. In the aftermath, Lewis was placed on administrative leave, but he then immediately resigned.

Lewis and his wife, Tiffany Hagen, were tried together, and both were initially charged with possession of drugs with intent to sell and conspiracy. However, Tiffany was also facing a third possession charge that Lewis did not have.

Court records show that on Dec. 15, during a preliminary hearing, Lewis's charge of possession with intent to sell was certified to a grand jury.

Lewis's charge of possession with intent to sell and conspiracy was nolle prossed, effectively meaning prosecutors declined to continue pressing the charge.

Tiffany's charge of possession with intent to sell was certified to a grand jury.

Her other charges -- both possession of Schedule I or II drugs, and possession with intent to sell and conspiracy -- were nolle prossed.

As of reporting, court records do not yet reflect the date when Lewis and Tiffany will face a grand jury for their charges.
