Some restrooms close at Richmond International Airport due to low water pressure
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Some restrooms at Richmond International Airport (RIC) in Henrico County have been temporarily closed due to low water pressure on Wednesday.
At around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, RIC reported in a post on X that the restrooms in Concourse A are temporarily closed due to low water pressure.
According to a notice posted at RIC, passengers are encouraged to use the restroom before entering the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint.
This comes after the City of Richmond issued a boil water advisory for several neighborhoods after multiple water filters at the city’s water treatment plant were clogged, ultimately causing a decrease in water pressure on Tuesday, May 27.
On Wednesday morning, officials said Henrico’s water remains safe for consumption and use, and the county is not subject to a boil water advisory.
Additionally, Henrico County announced Wednesday morning that it was able to refill its reserve tanks overnight, which are temporarily providing water to its customers in the county’s East End.
8News has reached out to Henrico County's Director of the Department of Public Utilities for more information about why the airport is experiencing low water pressure and is waiting to hear back.
