Southampton Elementary School closes in Richmond due to water main break

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Southampton Elementary School, located in Richmond's Southside, will reportedly remain closed on Thursday due to a water main break.

At 6:25 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, Southampton Elementary School announced on social media that a water main break outside of the school had caused the school to close for the day.

School officials said Richmond Department of Public Utilities (DPU) crews were on the site, and Richmond Public Schools Facilities team were monitoring conditions.

Families can pick up food at the school, located at 3333 Cheverly Rd., from 9 to 11 a.m., according to the post.
