Southern access bridge to Belle Isle to close for ramp improvements

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The southern access bridge to Belle Isle will be closed on Thursday due to upgrades to its ramp, according to Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities. The department said the bridge will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 7 for the installation of a new ramp, and it will re-open on Friday, Nov. 8. The bridge connects a trail in Richmond's Southside to the island, running parallel to the Robert E. Lee Bridge. Those wishing to access Belle Isle can do so by heading from Richmond's Northside, then walking along the Belle Isle Suspension Bridge.
