StormTracker 8: Another chilly day; VIPIR Alert 7pm Friday-10am Saturday

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - All eyes on Friday evening through Saturday morning, as another winter storm takes aim at Central Virginia to end out this work week. More on that upcoming storm system in a moment. Our Thursday will start off cold once again, so please bundle up and warm up your vehicle before you head off to your Thursday morning destination. This afternoon, features lots of sunshine, chilly temperatures, rising to 30 to 35 degrees and breezy conditions from time to time leading to wind chills in the 20s at times. Tonight, into our Friday morning, will feature partly cloudy skies overnight and cold temperatures again dropping down into the teens. Friday to end out the work week brings changes to Central Virginia, with increasing clouds throughout the day ahead of our next winter storm set to affect the viewing area by the evening hours bringing another round of snow to the state. Highs on Friday afternoon will rise into the middle 30s under mostly cloudy skies. Light to moderate snow begins around 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Friday and continues overnight Friday night into Saturday morning, before ending altogether between 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. Saturday, from west to east. Snowfall accumulations right now look to be around 1 to 4 inches across most of Central Virginia, with some mixed precipitation at times in Southern Virginia. Meanwhile, for areas in Northern Virginia that got the jackpot amounts from the Sunday into Monday winter storm earlier this week, will see very little if any snowfall accumulations from this storm system on the way. After the light to moderate snow ends in the morning hours Saturday, we will see afternoon sunshine breaking out and temperatures rising into the middle to upper 30s allowing for melting of that snow to happen. Sunday brings lots of sunshine and chilly afternoon temperatures, in the middle 30s. Monday will be mostly sunny and not as chilly, with afternoon temperatures rising to 40 to 45 degrees. Tuesday and Wednesday of next week will be similar under mostly sunny skies both days and chilly afternoon temperatures, rising into the middle 30s. Finally, next Thursday won’t be as chilly with highs around 40 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
