StormTracker 8: Beautiful today, changes on the way tomorrow

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — It will be a beautiful day before tropical moisture starts to move into the area tomorrow which will bring the risk of rain to end the weekend.

Mostly sunny skies will be with us today and it will be a seasonable day with highs in the middle to upper 80s. It will be the last day with no humidity so enjoy it as triple digit heat indices will be back tomorrow.

Overnight lows will drop into the middle to upper 60s under mostly clear skies.

Tomorrow we start the day with partly sunny skies before clouds thicken up especially south of I-64 and along the coast. Scattered showers and storms look to move into the area tomorrow afternoon and evening. The best chance of showers and storms will stay south of I-64, but northern counties have the risk of a few showers and storms as well. Highs will be in the middle to upper 80s, but we will also be very humid which means triple digit heat indices are back in the forecast.

Tropical moisture will also be with us Monday with the risk of scattered showers and storms continuing across the area. High temperatures will be closer to the middle 80s with mostly cloudy skies overhead.

We will be warm and humid Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the low 90s and heat indices 100-105°. We will see partly sunny skies both days with the risk of a few isolated showers and storms mainly in the afternoon/evening.

Scattered showers and storms look to move through Thursday and highs will be near 90. A few isolated showers and storms stays with us for Friday before rain chances drop off for the weekend ahead.

Tracking the Tropics:

We now have Tropical Storm Chantal which is moving very slowly and will make landfall in South Carolina and then move into North Carolina before trekking towards Virginia. This will bring us the risk of tropical moisture and the risk of scattered showers and storms tomorrow afternoon through likely Monday evening. We will continue to keep you updated.
