StormTracker 8: Scattered to likely showers and storms overnight tonight

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Scattered to likely showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for tonight through Sunday morning, across Central Virginia, as a cold front will be approaching us from our west and stalling out overnight tonight. Any thunderstorms that develop and push through our area overnight tonight will bring the threat of heavy downpours, gusty winds, thunder, lightning and small hail. The strong storm threat overnight tonight is diminishing, which is great news.

Aside from the shower and thunderstorm risk tonight, we will see mostly cloudy skies and very mild temperatures, getting down to around 65 degrees.

Sunday for the second half of this current weekend, will bring us likely showers and thunderstorms in the morning, then transitioning over to scattered showers and thunderstorms as we head towards the late morning and afternoon hours. Any thunderstorms that develop tomorrow will bring the threat of heavy downpours, gusty winds, thunder, lightning and small hail.

Aside from the shower and thunderstorm risk tomorrow, we will see mostly cloudy skies and seasonable temperatures, rising into the middle to upper 70s.

Sunday night into Monday morning will bring us drying out conditions across Central Virginia, under mostly cloudy skies and getting down to around 55 to 60 degrees.

Monday to kick off the new work week, will bring us partly sunny skies, scattered showers and thunderstorms to the region and highs around 80 degrees.

Tuesday brings us partly sunny skies, isolated showers and highs 75 to 80 degrees.

Over the course of the next few days, we could be looking at anywhere from a half inch to an inch and a half or so of rainfall, which is very beneficial.

Wednesday will be our next completely dry day across Central Virginia, under mostly cloudy skies and highs around 80 degrees.

Thursday brings us mostly cloudy skies, highs 75 to 80 degrees and a possible shower.

Friday and Saturday both look completely dry, under mostly cloudy skies and temperatures rising into the 70s. Mother’s Day Sunday, next Sunday, is looking good under partly sunny skies, highs in the 70s and a possible shower.
