StormTracker 8: Slowly getting out of the Arctic Blast
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Good news on the way in the Central Virginia weather forecast, we will be slowly getting out of this Arctic Blast we’ve been dealing with these past few days as we head towards the upcoming weekend. By the way, this has been the 7th coldest January so far, in the Richmond region. Thursday night into Friday morning, brings us decreasing clouds from west to east and another cold overnight, but thankfully not as frigid as it was this morning, as many locations started off in the single digits. Friday morning, we will start off on either side of 20 degrees under clear skies and light winds. Friday will be a chilly day with high temperatures, rising to around 40 degrees under mostly sunny skies, and light westerly winds. The upcoming weekend is looking nicer compared to recent days. Saturday will be partly sunny with highs rising to 40 to 45 degrees, while Sunday will also be partly sunny with highs rising to 45 to 50 degrees, which is where we should be for late January standards. Looking ahead to the final days of January next week, we will see seasonable temperatures in store during the overnights and in the afternoons with dry conditions expected. At the end of next week, it will get chilly again, it appears for next Friday, with high temperatures only rising in the 30s. Our next legitimate storm system to bring our next round of precipitation appears to be next weekend, so February 1st and 2nd at this point, but a lot can and will change between now and then. I’m also seeing bouts of chillier air still a possibility as we head into the month of February.
