StormTracker 8: VIPIR Alert through Wednesday, due to Extreme Heat

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - We continue to track the Extreme Heat and Humidity this week across Central Virginia, more on that below. VIPIR Alert Days remain in effect for Tuesday and for Wednesday this week.

Our Monday night into Tuesday morning calls for very muggy conditions overnight, under mostly clear skies and low temperatures dropping down into the middle to the upper 70s.

Tuesday’s forecast brings another very hot and very humid day to the region, under mostly sunny skies, high temperatures rising into the middle to upper 90s, with heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees tomorrow once again, just like our Monday. There’s also a low possibility of a late day thunderstorm or two for isolated locations.

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning brings us another very muggy overnight period, under mostly clear skies and low temperatures dropping down into the middle to the upper 70s.

Wednesday will bring another day filled with lots of heat and humidity to the region, as the strong ridging pattern remains in place, under partly sunny skies, high temperatures rising into the middle to upper 90s, with heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees once again. There’s also an isolated chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours.

Thursday and Friday to wrap up this current work week will bring us some relief from this strong ridging pattern as it breaks down a bit and brings high temperatures for these days in the lower 90s. Isolated chances of thunderstorms are in the forecast for Thursday and Friday.

This upcoming Saturday, Sunday and next Monday currently are looking mainly dry if not completely dry, under partly sunny skies and high temperatures rising into the lower 90s.

Finally, next Tuesday, right now is signaling to me the potential of seeing scattered showers and thunderstorms, under mostly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 90s.
